Advanced Visualization Lab, Visualization and Analytics, UITS Research Technologies
Every fall and spring semester at the IUPUI School of Informatics and Computing ends with Student Capstone presentations. During the spring 2014 semester, four students utilized one or more technologies from the UITS Advanced Visualization Lab (AVL) for Capstone topics that included virtual reality simulations, interactive games, and a stereoscopic movie created with a cutting-edge 3D camera rig. Through the AVL students had a unique opportunity to work with world-class visualization technologies and domain experts.
At the AVL, students are provided 24/7 access to the technologies, and Lab staff are regularly available to offer technical support and constructive feedback. Staff work directly with students who require special programming or configuration to minimize or remove any barriers. From the overall process students increase both their technical and interpersonal skills.
IU's Advanced Visualization Lab is funded through the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology; is a unit of UITS Research Technologies; and is affiliated with the Pervasive Technology Institute.
