Grants to cite in published papers and presentations

The facilities supported by the Research and Academic Computing Division are supported by a number of grants. These grants require that support from them be acknowledged. Also, conscientious acknowledgment of past grants enhances the chances of future grants. Following is a summary of recent grants and the acknowledgment statements required for each grant (note that these are not either/or; it might be very common to need to acknowledge up to three of these sources at once):

AVIDD

Anything that makes use of IU's Linux clusters, mass storage facilities, or the visualization environments associated with AVIDD opens a new
window should be acknowledged as follows:

  • In all papers and other scholarly printed works, include: "This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 0116050."

  • In any Web pages, talks, online publications, etc., include the citation with a disclaimer:
"This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 0116050. Any opinions, findings and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation (NSF)."

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)

All works that make use of the FASD informatics core facilities or personnel should include the following:

"The project described was supported by grant number 1U24AA014818-01 from NIAAA/NIH. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the NIAAA/NIH."

Indiana Genomics Initiative

For all works related to the life sciences (including papers, online publications, Web pages, or talks) that have made use of IU's Research SP opens a
new window, any bioinformatics software provided by IU, or IU's Massive Data Storage Service opens a new window, please include:

"This research was supported in part by the Indiana Genomics Initiative. The Indiana Genomics Initiative of Indiana University is supported in part by Lilly Endowment, Inc."

IBM SUR Grants

All works that make use of IU's Research SP or massive data storage system should include an acknowledgment to IBM as follows:

"This work was supported in part by Shared University Research grants from IBM, Inc. to Indiana University."

Sun Center of Excellence

Any research that makes use of the UITS Research Database Complex should acknowledge IU's relationship with Sun as a Sun Center of Excellence. Following is a reasonable example:

"This work was supported in part by systems obtained by Indiana University through its relationship with Sun Microsystems Inc. as a Sun Center of Excellence."
